Lapa Rios is an upscale 16-bungalow ecolodge on the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica, an area prized for its biodiversity and soon to be named World Heritage Site. The 50-plus staff members are from the local isolated area, and environmental education is fundamental to the employees and international guests’ experiences. The development of the local primary school is entirely funded by the lodge's Travelers Philanthropy outreach. Lapa Rios is certified by the country's Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST) program and received the highest award of 5 leaves.

Rainforest and ocean activities bring together guests and the community. Daily guest experiences include a variety of staff naturalist led rainforest interpretive hikes, birdwatching walks and sustainable/educational local project visits. Ocean-mangrove boating trips, dolphin and whale watching, kayaking and surfing are offered by neighboring guides, as well as massages and yoga classes. Some guests’ highlights include a day hike in Corcovado National Park (via small plane transfer) or a night spent on the overnight platform; others find relaxing at the pool or hammock napping most memorable.

Food and Drink

Although remote and isolated Lapa Rios serves food and beverages not usually offered in the wilderness. our excellent cooks combine fresh fruits and vegetables with local fish, chicken and meat to provide delicious, hearty meals with a tropical flavor. A full service bar mixes favourite beverages from fresh juices wines and spirits.

	All rates are per person, per night. Children rate based on children under 10 years of age, sharing room with 2 adults. Our space tends to fill up 2 - 6 months in advance and for some periods even earlier than that. We would recommend that you investigate space availability now and if you think you would like to come and stay with us make a reservation now to guarantee the dates that you want. We do not recommend less than 4 nights at Lapa Rios for anyone who is arriving or leaving by plane. It is too short a time for most people given the experience encountered here and the variety of things to do and see!
